REFLEXIONES SOBRE MUSSOLINI

On 29 October 1922, Benito Mussolini was propelled to power by the March on Rome, inaugurating  L’Era fascista . The date was subsequently declared the first day of Year One of the Fascist calendar. Like any founding event, the March was also the staging of a spectacle and the forging of a myth. An early and opportunistic reader of Georges Sorel’s  Reflections on Violence  (1908), Mussolini was persuaded that politics was inseparable from mythmaking, that it was a kind of mythopoiesis. Fight or Flight

"The end of history will be a very sad time. The struggle for recognition, the willingness to risk one’s life for a purely abstract goal, the worldwide ideological struggle that called forth daring, courage, imagination, and idealism, will be replaced by economic calculation, the endless solving of technical problems, environmental concerns and the satisfaction of sophisticated consumer demands…In the post-historical period, there will be neither art nor philosophy, just the perpetual caretaking of the museum of human history." Fukuyama, The End of History and the Last Man  (1992) Alexander Well escribe sobre Fukuyama, para  NLR SIDECAR , 8 de julio de 2022
